Drop-off on Tuesday 27 January

Please be mindful it will be busy around the school so allow extra time for drop-off or parking.

Junior School students should arrive between 8:00am and 8:20am, go directly to their classrooms and place their bags on the racks outside the classroom. Your son's classroom teacher will then provide further instruction.

Your son's classroom teacher will contact all families this week to introduce themselves and reiterate any important information families need for the first week, including the location of your son's classroom.

Secondary School students should congregate upon arrival (8:00am to 8:20am) at:

Year 7 – outside the Morrison STEM Building

Year 8 – outside the Senior Library

Year 9 – outside Gymnasium

Year 10 – outside Auditorium

Year 11 – outside Auditorium

Year 12 – Level 2 Ladley

Refer to the Campus Map for more information.

Personal Grooming Expectations

Boys are expected to arrive at school with a haircut which conforms to our guidelines of hair no shorter than a blade III, no artificial colouring, tracks or any other abrupt change in lengths. Once shaving is necessary, it is expected the boys shave every morning.

Items required for the first day

Junior School students should bring a lunchbox, water bottle, IGS hat and his PE attire if he has PE scheduled on Tuesdays (timetables can be checked in Schoolbox).

Secondary School students will commence their normal timetable on Tuesday after having a cohort assembly with their Head of Year. Students should check their timetable online (please note, timetables may be subject to change and should be referenced as close to Tuesday morning as possible) and ensure they bring the necessary equipment to school. All Secondary School students will be issued with a locker and existing students can use the same school-issued locks as last year (silver lock with black combination dial). If you do not yet have a lock, please purchase one from the Clothing Store.

If you have received a notification from Box of Books that some items are on back order, please be aware that the digital-only version of the textbooks are immediately available and will suffice until the physical copy arrives.

Charter Bus Service

We operate daily private bus services for students of Ipswich Grammar School and Ipswich Girls' Grammar within Ipswich and the western suburbs of Brisbane as far north as Indooroopilly, east to Sunnybank Hills, and south to Greenbank and Springfield. We also offer free transfers between IGS and IGGS.

The system our provider uses enables real-time tracking, allowing parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children during their commute.

Please complete the Charter Bus Application Form to ensure he is registered for the required service. Once your son is set up in the system, his student ID card will also serve as his bus pass.

For more details about the service, including routes, fares, timetables, and instructions on how to download the Parent Software App for tracking and monitoring student travel, please refer to our website.

When using our Chartered Bus Service, there is an expectation boys do so safely as demonstrated in this video.

We strongly encourage you to check your son's bus route and times as there have been adjustments as we approach the start of the year.
