Junior School - Back to School

Parking/Drop-off

Please be mindful it will be busy around the school so allow extra time for drop-off or parking.

Following the first day of school, you may continue to walk your son to his class after parking on the surrounding streets or you may choose to use one of the drop-off zones where staff greet the boys each morning.

Drop-off zones

In the morning, you may drop your son/s at one of our two drop-off zones - on Waghorn Street and Woodend Road. Both these zones are fully supervised from 8:00am each morning.

Pick-up zones

While you may park and walk in to collect your son, many parents make use of the pick-up zones for convenience.

If your son is in Prep (he will be escorted) or Year 6 he will be directed to the pick-up zone on Waghorn Street and will meet any siblings at this point to be picked up.

Please note this area of Waghorn Street has a 2-minute loading zone which is enforced by Ipswich City Council. Prior to and immediately after 3:00pm, this area is very congested with traffic from multiple schools.

If you have a son in Year 1 or Year 2 (and no younger sons), he will be directed to the front of the Junior School Reception on Woodend Road. You will then be able to enter the slip lane to pick your son up before entering back out onto Woodend Rd.

If your son is in Year 3 to Year 5 (and no younger sons) he will be directed to the front of the Auditorium. You will then enter the campus in your vehicle via the Darling Street (no right turn from Darling Street is permitted during school hours) driveway and proceed through the roundabout to the pick-up zone at the front door of the Auditorium before exiting back out onto Darling Street.

Please be mindful as a growing school in a busy area the roads immediately surrounding the school can be congested between 2:45pm to 3:10pm, arriving after this time can be less congested. The pick-up zones are fully supervised until 3:30pm each day at which time any remaining boys are escorted to OSHC. We thank you for your patience when picking up your son.

Prep Parents

Immediately after the bell rings for their first day of school to start, you are invited to the Junior School Library to join Headmaster Dr Adam Forsyth and Head of Junior School Mr Ben Gates for morning tea to commemorate the beginning of your son's IGS journey.
