Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club

Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club attracts beginner, development and elite swimmers through a combination of swimming club activities, club meets and GPS/School swimming environments.

Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club is an extension of the School and as a consequence strives for exceptional performance. Ipswich Grammar School was founded in 1863 and commenced swimming activities with a heated 50m pool in 1980 when the first swimming club was established.

The vision of the Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club is to provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for swimmers to develop their racing skills while encouraging members to have a great time with their friends and family.

Club Nights and Junior School swimming carnivals are generally the first level of competition a swimmer will participate in. As the swimmers age and develop they will be encouraged to compete in higher-level competitions. Our Club Nights are held every Tuesday night starting at 6.00pm at the IGS Swimming Pool (Waghorn Street, Ipswich).

Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club aims to play an important role in improving the level of swimming in the Ipswich area under Head Coach and IGS Old Boy Tom Harris (Class of 1997). Tom has over 20 years coaching experience and a number of Brisbane and Swimming Queensland records are still held by swimmers he coached at the time.
