| Early Childhood - Preparatory to Year 3 |
Boys in the early years of schooling are active learners who seek to make sense of the world, explore patterns and relationships and investigate and play with materials, ideas and people. A young boy's training is enhanced by a flexible, supportive and challenging environment.
The P-3 curriculum at Ipswich Grammar School provides boys with learning situations that are challenging, authentic and flexible. Early literacy and numeracy skills are integral to foundation learning. By developing problem-solving skills, enjoying play and taking part in health and physical activities, boys learn to create, express and challenge themselves.
From their first day in Prep, boys are engaged in a literacy program allowing them to develop strong communicative and literacy skills. Boys enjoy lessons with specialist teachers in the areas of:
Music
Library
Physical Education
Ipswich Grammar School has specifically designed programs to assist young boys' learning and development.
Boys love movement and physical activity and with a multi-purpose Sports Dome, an adventure playground, gymnasium, ovals and heated swimming pool, boys are engaged in activities that develop self-confidence, teamwork, acceptance of physical challenges and importantly, an awareness of self.
