The Early History of Football Codes at IGS When competition with Brisbane Grammar commenced in 1870, Australian Rules was the chosen code until Rugby Union was adopted in 1887. However when the GPS competition commenced 1918, Rugby League was the official football code. The switch to Rugby Union occurred in 1928.

Plea for Coaching Assistance Old boys’ are very active in coaching activities with sporting teams. However there are always teams which are not receiving appropriate assistance and a request has been received specifically for assistance with rugby and cricket.
