The Old Boys’ Association Council elected the following members to the Executive at the Annual General Meeting held on Monday 3rd March, 2009: OBA EXECUTIVE 2010 President: Jon Kent (1971-75) Vice President: Greg Whitehead (1971-75) Secretary/Treasurer: Bob Adcock (1964-67) Registrar: John Edmondson (1955-58) Asst Registrar: Eric Clarke (1961-65) EMAIL: oldboys@ipswichgrammar.com PHONE: 07-38139600 COUNCIL MEETINGS: Dates for 2010 are: Annual General Meeting: Monday 8 March at 7.00pm. Council Meetings: held at 6pm: 10 May, 5 July, 6 September, 1 November. All Old Boys are welcome. YEAR PHOTO DISPLAYS For a number of years we have been endeavouring to obtain copies of photos for the Museum Committee to complete the Year Photo Displays which have not existed for the period 1967-1983. Photos sought are Prefects, 1st XI, 1st XV, 1st IV, Swimming, Track & Field and Cross-Country. However at this stage only 1967 and 1979 are complete and over 50 photos are still outstanding. Years almost complete include 1977 (Senior Cross Country outstanding), 1978 (Cross Country outstanding) and 1981 (Swimming and Tennis outstanding). We are indebted to the following for their contributions: Tim Warnock, Kim Wishart, Cameron Martens, Wayne Giebel, Ray Brown, Mal Varitimos, Brad Solomon, Chris Tudge, Arthur Young, Rahman Ghani, Michael Spurrier, Alec Harslett, Ken Slipper, Bruce Williams, Greg Delbridge and Pat Farrell. The preferred arrangement is to have original photos forwarded to the Museum Committee at the School address for professional scanning. The originals will then be returned. Please check with the Registrar by email to oldboys@ipswichgrammar.com to check whether your photos are still required. Alternatively scanned files may be acceptable. We are also looking for pre-WW2 photos of which there is no comprehensive collection or display. In particular the Cricket Supporters are seeking 1st Cricket photos to build a collection as a feature of the Risson Centre at Brassall. FIRSTS REPRESENTATIVE TIES The presentation of a special tie to students selected in Firsts teams in all GPS competitions including sporting, chess, debating etc is an initiative of the OBA which commenced in 2004. Presentations are made on an assembly of each term usually with the assistance of distinguished Old Boys. We have decided to make the tie available to eligible representatives from past years at a cost of $22 to assist in funding this initiative. Please advise your qualification for our records.
