Ipswich Grammar School has been involved in GPS competition since its’ inception in 1990. Football at IGS has grown substantially and has up to 4 teams in each age group. IGS Football is lucky enough to compete at the schools Brassall playing fields which are one of the premier venues in GPS sporting competition.
IGS has been relatively successful in football and has claimed many premierships along the way. The school also competes in the respective Knock out competitions such as the ISSA Cup (Under 14), Bill Turner Cup (Under15) and the Uhlsport Cup (Under 19) as well as the GPS competition.
IGS has a close bond with the QLD Roar and a large amount of primary and secondary students have the opportunity to get coaching during their Physical Education classes. There is also Excellence in Sport whereby our elite grade 9 and 10 students concentrate solely on football during the season.
Futsal is also offered to the students in preparation to the GPS season. IGS has had high success at the SEQ titles and has won on a number of occasions.
IGS football is building a strong tradition as one of the premier sports at the school. Continued alliance with the QLD Roar and other exemplary coaches assists all men at the school improve immensely.
