Ipswich Grammar School has been a long time participant in The Navy AFL Queensland Independent School Competition. More than 50 schools, 120 teams and 3000 students across south-east Queensland now compete in the Navy Independent Schools Cup competition.

The School has had strong success over the last few years and expects to go from strength to strength. Participation is expected to again exceed 100 students in the 2008 season which will commence in August.

AFL at IGS has a strong social nature with many participants playing the game for the first time with their mates this ensures both an enjoyment and a competitive side to the game.
