Pedal Prix
The Pedal Prix competition is about the innovative design of recumbent bicycles. The boys are encouraged to design and build a bike, with certain rules and restrictions to ensure the safety of the bike design and construction.
There are two races that we compete in at this point, namely the RACQ All Schools’ Pedal Prix and the Maryborough Technology Challenge. The first race of the year is held at Willowbank Raceway and is a 6 hour race. It is often used as a testing ground for new designs under race conditions. The second race is often the highlight for most of the boys. This race is held in Maryborough and is a 24 hour endurance race involving approximately 140 team entrants. Teams and bikes are pushed to their limits as the race unfolds. Both races involve 8 riders per team with the top teams reaching speeds in excess of 45 kph.
