Tournament of Minds is an Australasian problem solving competition where teams of seven students from years eight through to eleven come together to solve demanding, open-ended long-term and spontaneous challenges in the most unique and original way possible. Students can choose to participate in one of the following three disciplines; Language and Literature, Social Science, Digital Animation or Maths/ Engineering. Tournament of Minds begins in term three when groups are provided with six weeks to solve their long-term problem as well as create scripts, direct their own performances, devise and make their own sets and costumes, the Maths and Engineering group even have to build a device! The short term challenge involves students collaboratively negotiating and solving a rather difficult spontaneous problem in ten minutes with five minutes presentation time.
