As part of the outdoor education programme at Ipswich Grammar School Year Twelve students have the opportunity to complete a PADI open water scuba diving certification. This four day course involves knowledge development sessions, pool skills training and four open water dives under the direct inwater supervision of a PADI instructor and IGS teaching staff. Open water dives are conducted at a variety of dive sites around south east Queensland such as, Wave Break Island, the Southport Seaway, North Stradbroke Island and Cook Island Marine Park. Scuba diving allows our students to escape to a different world, a world with new colours, shapes, textures and creatures. Becoming a scuba diver allows students to escape to a peaceful place to renew their energy and excite their senses. Students can explore new and amazing places that few people ever get the chance to visit. Scuba diving frees you to explore the underwater world – from historic shipwrecks to pristine reefs. Scuba divers experience a connection with nature; a feeling of freedom, and a transformation. Diving connects you with nature. It immerses you in new sensations and experiences. It transforms your perception of life forever.
