As part of our charter to provide boys with a well rounded education, we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities which enhance the curriculum and enrich the lives of our students. These fulfilling, character-building activities enable students to develop their natural talents through participation.
Ipswich Grammar School acknowledges the value of sport, the arts and other interests play in students’ development. Boys have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sporting, cultural, intellectual and artistic activities. Every boy is valued for his participation be it in the Firsts to the lower grades in under age divisions.
All students are encouraged to become actively involved in some form of sport and or co-curricular activity. All activities are played outside school hours under the supervision of competent and qualified coaches. While we acknowledge the thrill of winning, we endeavour to promote the positive aspects of participation.
Young sportsmen with champion potential may participate in the unique IGS Excellence in Sport Program. This entails one-on-one professional coaching from Olympians, Regional Coaching Directors, State Sporting bodies and the Queensland Academy of Sport.
‘The Centre for Specialisation’ at the school utilises the expertise of sports specialists, elite coaches, sports psychologists and doctors to assist with boys’ development in skills, health and nutrition, motivation, sportsmanship, commitment and teamwork.
